Out in the garden a treasure trove of ephemera from the past has a way of appearing. Dig and you will be sure to find fragments from the days when this place was a thriving centre of gold mining. In the silence now it is hard to imagine just how busy this part of the world was in the 1860’s. Canvas tents have long gone but treasure is still to be found.
One of the features of the garden is the ruin of the old town hall which now is host a sea of old bulbs. The crumbling walls have long forgotten the events that were marked here and are now content to offer a quiet place to sit.
Meandering through the garden, finding a 150 year old olive and assorted old European species apple is a treat for the senses.
